I've been secretly admiring those who has the courage to go for Brazilian Waxing for some time. I heard how much it changes one's life down under, especially when you don't have to use the shaver anymore which is annoying as hell. Almost everyone has tried shaving at least once in their life (I'm one of them). It was pretty easy right? just use the shaver, shave all the hair down and wash off. Yes real easy, until you do it! My Experience at Strip, Ministry of Waxing
I shall now disclose that I have never done Brazilian Wax before and at Strip, they call people like me virgins! Oh how much will you pay to hear that again? (haha). Having a virgin forest, I was feeling nervous about my first time. Things like will it be painful? will the lady run after I show it all? will she ask me questions about my past? (well it's like a history down under right?) how long do I need to bare it all on the table? bed.

So when I arrived at the latest Strip outlet at Solaris Dutamas (Publika) I was excited to find out that the newly launched store is a music studio inspired decor with distinctive perforated walls that are splashed with striking bright red and burnt orange. Before my session start, I asked a few questions:
Will it be painful? is it scary? how long will it take? Thanks to Strip's founder Cynthia Chuawho created a brand new set of Brazilian waxing techniques that is significantly less painful and embarrassing. Rest assure we are under the hands of the experts who knows what they're doing. While the level of pain is different from one person to another, it is tolerable. For some there would be a slight pain experience while for others it would be a peachy pinch only. The process will take 30 minutes or less.
Advise: Do not go for waxing a week before or after your period. The skin is more sensitive during this time and the level of discomfort will be heightened as a result.
I'm embarrassed to show my bits! It's like a visit to the gynae, they seen it all and would care less what yours look like or if you have monsters hiding there.

The room was small and clean. I see curtains and posters on the wall. Their breath mantra is a familiar sight. I got a Hygiene Pack - a sealed pouch containing disposable waxing equipment (gloves, face masks, pH balance wet wipes and spatulas). I was given a few mins to change out of my bottoms and a towel to shield the area. I used the pH balance wet wipes to clean my private areas (don't want to freak people out do we?). My Waxpert was back and she lay me down on my bed, gave me a cute squeezy orang utan toy so I could squeeze my pain away. She then ask me to open my mouth and put in 7 drops of bach flower essence – nature’s secret healing remedy that induces a calming sensation.
Explaining the process in steps, my Waxpert started to dip the spatula into the warm pink strawberry wax and on my skin. The warm sensation was incredible. Holding my orang utan squeezy toy, I held my breath and got ready for my first strip. 1, 2, STRIP! holy cow! I just got waxed. The feeling was a mixture of fear and excitement. I felt alive, my senses went BAM! Can't believe I'm really so daring. It's so exhilarating why didn't I do this earlier?
To describe, it was super fast, like peeling off a sticker on your body. The discomfort went off before u can finish saying oh! My Waxpert told me after a few times of having Brazilian Wax, one would not even feel any discomfort anymore. Inspiring I would say.
My Waxpert quickly hold down the area, to soothe it. I was game to continue, there's no stopping me from going bare now. Strip! Strip! Strip! and finally after 10mins, I was as bare as a baby! My Waxpert finish off by tweezing stray hairs off and applying Ice Cream on the waxed area. Truly a professional, she waxed me like trimming my eye brow. There was no embarrassment there, she didn't run out of the room when I show her my bottoms, or gave me a weird stare.

The whole session took no longer than 30mins and the first thing I did like any human being was to look at myself in the mirror. So this is how I look like many years ago. How did I forget? and like any other human being, I started examining and feeling the area. Holy cow! it's super smooth and soft? what's this feeling? Was I did soft before I don't remember. All I know is it feels like a completely whole new me.
Interesting Fact: Brazilian Wax means everything off, that includes removing hair in between of your buttocks. Yes for some people, hair grows there so your Waxpert will ask you to turn around so she can wax there.
Wax aftercare tips and Ice Cream
Post waxing care is very important to reduce itching, inflammation or infection. If you have redness or inflammation you can use a soothing cream like Strip's Ice Cream RM98. I used this at home after waxing for a few days. The cooling sensation is comfortably nice to calm my area down. The packaging is also cute, I admire it for quite a fair bit on my drawer. Now I wish it came in colored flavors, it will be irresistible to say no to.

To prevent ingrown hair, redness, bumps and itching, I used the Malin+Goetz Ingrown Hair CreamRM98 religiously. It contains Papaya and Pineapple Enzyme to exfoliate and eliminate ingrown hair concerns. Vitamin B5 and E to promote skin repair while botanicals of Allantoin and Chamomile soothe and calm itchiness and irritation. Surprisingly, this cream actually works to combat itch and ingrown hairs. I didn't have any crazy itch problems and when it started to itch, I quickly apply this cream. It's also cheaper than the Sothy's Post Depilatory Softening Care Cream RM219.

Getting a Brazilian Wax will definitely make you feel different and good about yourself. It's an awesome experience that one must try at least once! You'll feel liberated (set free), clean and baby soft down under. When doing a Brazilian Wax for the first time, it's not uncommon to experience slight discomfort as the roots has been growing since puberty. Remember no pain no gain, that's what we girls always say ;)

I visited Urban Retreat Spa once years back at The Curve, for their foot massage. Back then they only have one outlet. Now they opened up another one at 1 Mont Kiara shopping mall, which is conveniently located in Mont Kiara (opposite Plaza Mont Kiara). I needed a massage badly, my migraines were killing me and my body screams for relaxation. Stress from a recent work related issue was on my shoulder, I needed to get rid off it.

I decided to try their signature Hot Oil Aromatherapy Massage 60mins | RM97 and Aromatic Facial Rituals - Decleor Aromassage Facial 60mins | RM169.00 (50% OFF with any body massage). The facial was something new to me, I have never tried a massage facial before. Yeah I know facials incorporate massages for lymphatic drainage / lifting, but a facial that's totally focused on massaging your face for relaxation is something I am not able to resist. It reminded me of Vila Manja's face spa (using essential oil of a special nut, to massage the facial points), I wonder how will this one fare?
I booked an appointment for 6pm, expecting this to be like a normal massage outlet. Upon arrival I was greeted by Kelly, the manager. She let me take photos of the place, I manage to snap a few photos showing the serene urban like atmosphere, where one can have a quick escape from the stresses of life and work.

Back to the waiting area, I sat down and had to choose a massage oil for my body massage session. There's 3 types of aromatherapy massage oils to choose from. Naturally I will go for lemon grass (my favorite scent) for stimulating blood circulation and relieving water retention. My first time knowing that lemon grass is also used for firming and tightening of the skin besides the relaxing scent.

As I was changing in my room, I realize there's no door to lock for privacy but there's string door curtains as a barrier alternative. I wonder if there was doors for couple rooms here (if they have). I requested my masseuse, Eve to dim down the lights. I lay face down and wonder if I should let Eve know how I like to be massage (pressure). On second though, maybe I'll let her judge? Sometimes I like to test how good a masseuse is this way.

I got comfortable and Eve started to rub the therapeutic lemon grass massage oil on my back. It was super nice having the sensation of warm oil on my back. With gentle long strokes, Eve started a rhythm that was almost poetic. I was falling in love with her. Her pressure was soft and yet firm, caressing and easing my muscles. Using acupressure, she gently releases tension on tight areas and joints. I was really enjoying my massage with her and regretted not going for the 90minutes session instead. I dozed into a state of deep relaxation but not sleep. How could I? I wanted to savor every waking moment of this experience. This was arguably the best massage I have experience this year, and second best after my spa experience at Spa Village, Pangkor Laut (YTL). I am so coming back.
After 30mins Eve asked me to turn around and she places a pillow under my head. Using the towel under my head, she covers my eyes with each side and continue the massage. This time, I fell asleep.

It was an honor to be at the Great Skin Debate, sharing my experience. How often do you get to say, yes this works and have proven skincare trial results to show for? I went through the trial and found that the product worked well for me, even when I have sensitive skin. You don't get to chance on a product like this everyday and it's not readily available on the shelves. One has to go to a dermatologist to get consultation first, have their skin assess and then use the product. It sounds too serious right? well it's actually not that scary or complicated plus a dermatologist would advise you how to use the product and achieve the results you want. Today I will be reviewing the Biore Makeup Remover For Eye & Lip, courtesy of Kao Malaysia. It's a eye and lip makeup remover that removes heavy makeup such as waterproof mascara, waterproof eyeliner, glitter eye shadow and fake lashes as well as lip balm, lipstick and lip gloss. We all know that it's such a pain to remove waterproof eye makeup. Sometimes I get quite aggressive trying to remove what's left of a waterproof eyeliner on my lids that I throw out the window "thou shall be gentle on thou eyes" girl's rule.

(and prevents girls like me who turn aggressive when their eye makeup is not removed in a few seconds).

Unlike other double-layered removers, it contains a special Micro Cleansing Formula which softens and effectively lifts off all traces of heavily-layered makeup. The packaging is girly pink, which I love! It's tight cap, clicks opens with a flip. The instructions says to shake well before use, so the liquids are mix and ready for your cotton pad. Just close your eyelids and place the cotton pad on for 5 seconds. Gently cleanse mascara downwards from root to eyelashes to tip. Repeat again but this time upwards fromt root to tip of eyelashes. Fold cotton pad, cleanse lower eyelid and under eye area gently. Repeat for the other eye using a clean cotton pad. Use another cotton pad to cleanse lip color.

My verdict on the product. I knew by seeing the double layered liquid I had to shake it before using but what I didn't expect was how fast it worked! Granted the formula must be powerful enough that my waterproof eyeliner was removed effortlessly in a few wipes. However the first wipe is the most crucial in determining how well an eye remover product would work. My first wipe removed almost all my blue eye shadows and even my false eyelashes! Normally false eyelashes would take a few wipes and gentle massage to remove (sometimes I have to peel it off) but in this case, it came off after 5 seconds of placing on my closed eyelids and then gently removed in a wipe. Impressive I must say! easy, fast and moisturizing on the skin.
The downside? do not open your eyes immediately after wiping, give a few seconds before you open your eyes so that the remover would not sting.

If anyone notice, in my pictures I have a blue kiss tattoo on my cheek. It's a waterproof temporary air-brushed tattoo that would need a nail polish remover to effectively remove it. Normal soap or cleanser would not budge this tattoo. I decided to try my luck and walah! The Biore Eye & Lip Makeup Remover effectively removed the blue tattoo from my face fast and easy! not bad not bad. For RM29.90 for 130ml, this is a keeper :)

Two weeks ago, me & my buddies went on a short trip to Cyberview Lodge Resort & Spa, Cyberjaya. We all needed the break and two of our buddies are having their birthdays this month. Celebrating it together would be meaningful, it was the first time all 4 of us survived a night together out in the "nature". Just an hour's drive from KL, Cyberview Lodge Resort & Spa was a beautiful tropical paradise hidden away from the city. A 5 star boutique resort with award winning landscape gardens, many blushing brides held their garden weddings here.

A night's stay in a deluxe chalet can cost up to RM1.5k but if you're lucky, you can get the online promotions for as low as RM288++ onwards. Our stay was sponsored by Olay Malaysia (big mucho gracias!). The room was big enough for a family to stay in. The king sized bed was huge but the room was not sound proof to my liking. We could hear everything from the bathroom till the neighbors next door. Honeymooners better get the private suites if they don't want to be heard at night.

Of course the highlight of the trip was to unwind and relax at Sembunyi Spa (hidden spa). I read many good reviews about this place and here we are finally at it's doorsteps. It's a small luxury spa tucked away outside the resort. The reception is small but serves its purpose. You can smell lemongrass in the air, thanks to the oils on the counter. The friendly lady helped us get ready and was really accommodating to our needs. At first we were indecisive over what to do - the monthly promotion or the combined treatment package in the menu? It wasn't your local spa that costs under a hundred. Camie and Wing had the Massage with Pedicure (RM300++ per pax for 2hrs) while me and Kenby opted for the Body Treatment combo (RM258++ per pax for 2hrs massage, scrub and wrap) It was time to treat ourselves something nice for a change. For recommendation, Sembunyi Spa is popular for their Balinese Massage and the Island Dream Scrub (suitable for all skin types). The Island Dream Scrub uses the "Manggir Scrub" which has coconut powder inside. For my full body session, I choose the Aromatherapy Massage instead of Balinese (afraid of pain). The masseuse used the lemon grass oil I choose and slowly in soft long strokes, massage me to sleep. After an hour, I awoke to the fruity smell of the Island Dream scrub. My whole body was scrub from back to front (even my boobs). Next yogurt with earth and petal mask where I was wrapped and left to sleep for another 1/2 hour. When I meet my friends back, they raved on and on about how great the Balinese Massage was. Kenby said it was the best massage she ever tried. Buaya Wing said it wasn't painful and that I would love it. Dam already I am regretting. Can it be as good as the massage I received at Spa Village, Pangkor Laut?

Guests of the resort can use the spa facilities here anytime while outsiders are required to either purchase a main treatment or pay spa entry fee in order to enter the area. When inside, the gym, jacuzzi, ice pool, sauna and steam rooms, and swimming pool can be enjoyed from 10am - 10pm. You can use the facilities either before or after your spa treatments.

After our spa we headed to Alamanda, Putrajaya for dinner. It was a 15-20mins drive away. We came back again to the resort pass 11pm, watched a romantic Thai comedy and then light up the candles on the cupcakes to wish the girls Happy Birthday. An enjoyable day, I would love to go back again and try the Balinese Massage for a change.

Did you watch my video? I was reenacting a scene where my friends attended a party and a girl wore a white dress but she didn't know her dress was discolored already. Well maybe the right word to use is stained? She didn't realize it until someone told her about it! Imagine her embarrassment! How on earth can our white tops or dresses get stained by yellowish marks?! Well let me tell you, it's because of the deodorant we use daily. With prolonged use of deodorants, the chemical reactions from our "sweat", deodorant ingredient and material of clothing causes stains our clothes. We hit the road to Vila Manja and was caught in a terrible jam (Matta fair madness).

Before our treatments start, we were given ginger tea to freshen up. Chatted and laughed a bit with the Spa manager, Marianne. A lovely woman who has lots stories to share with us. She explained to us what the Manja Afternoon Tea package was about and that she'll prepare us the afternoon goodies while we get pampered upstairs!

The treatment room was amazingly beautiful, set in red hues and curtains hanging from the ceiling. Each room has its own theme in Vila Manja. There's the Malay inspired rooms and the Asian inspired ones. Ours was obviously a couple room, that looked like a Chinese wedding chamber. My bff and I giggled at the thought of us being lesbians. We put on sarongs on and face down on the beds, eagerly waiting for our masseuse to start their magic.
The first session was the 30mins Manja Stone Massage where an ancient technique with warm stones immersed in aromatherapy oils are used to massage our bodies. This is the signature treatment from Vila Manja that everyone should at least try once. Contrary to many beliefs, hot stone massage is not using hot burning stones on your body. The stones are warmed up, enough just to be massaged onto our bodies to relieve, soothe or loosen tensions and backache. The stones will not burn you! but if you have delicate or sensitive skin, it's always best to seek the advise of the manager before selecting this treatment.
p.s: the hot stones on my back was great, but hot stones being used on my legs? fantastic!
Next the 60mins Manja Relaxing Massage follows. Using aromatherapy oil, my masseuse uses long continuously strokes to massage my body, the pressure I requested was light (not hard, I can't take hard) and soon after I fell asleep. It was soothing, relaxing and the music in the room was so right in combining all the elements together for a relaxing pampering session. My bff commented that this massage was as good as the other luxury hotel spa we tried a month ago.

Overall, I would say this is an unique experience for me. You can hardly find spas around town that serve you tea and snacks after a relaxing massage session. The environment of the spa is also unique to say. Set in the heart of the city, one would get lost trying to find this spa (no signage outside) but once you step into the place, it seems that you have been transported to another dimension where time stood still and your worries leaving you behind. Having your bridal shower or party here is a great idea, the spacious setting and ample car parks around the quiet neighborhood is a steal. I would come back here again :) and this time for the head spa recommended by Marianne for my migraines. I heard a special type of oil is used! oh I can't wait...

December is here but I am so broke due to the holiday trips I took this year that for December, I can't shop like crazy and the urges are killing me. Everyday I can't stop thinking about splurging at a face/body shop and carrying heaps of bags home to put under the Christmas tree. Anyway I had to still buy something to cheer myself up. I was at Mid Valley so I dropped by my favorite bath shop Loccitane and grabbed the limited edition Christmas set "Delice Delight" RM120. Of all the juicy sets and sales, I picked this one because it features the latest products from Loccitane and it comes with a cute candy pouch. I am waiting for the charity candle RM12 but Loccitane says it's not out yet (as usual, takes some time for them to stock, may as well don't print the available dates on the brochures).
Then I dropped by Gardens Borders after watching Twilight: Breaking Dawn. Yes I love this recent installment of Twilight. It's better than the last one. I find the honeymoon to be so romantic and Bella's so happy. Then boom she got pregnant with a "thing" and it might be like a devil thing (her new vamp family is worried about this) or it might be a beautiful thing. No spoilers here go see the movie yourself. It's December, so I just had to buy the magazines to read for this year. Been missing out a lot.

Found PhotoYou, a Canon photography magazine with tips, stories, and how to. It's really chic and cute. I think it's a photography magazine made for women. Yes seriously! I think so. Lastly, I was browsing a comic bookstore in Curve at night while my boyfriend is "yumcha-ing" with his pals. Suddenly saw Paradise Kiss Japanese Movie DVD on the shelves! Paradise Kiss was a popular fashion manga I loved years back, they made anime out of it too. Gosh what have I been missing out on this year.

In the Paradise Kiss live action movie, Keiko Kitagawa (北川景子）(Pretty Guardian Sailormoon, Buzzer Beat) will play the role of the main character, Hayasaka Yukari, a high school student who is tired of the meaningless and repetitive life that has been forced upon her by her uptight mother; while Osamu Mukai （向井理）(Hotaru no Hikari 2, BECK) play as Joji Koizumi, an eccentric, handsome, and extremely charismatic student of Yazagaku who has extraordinary talent with a gift for fashion design.
The next day we woke up at 8am, pack our bags and left our rooms to go for our breakfast (came with the stay). I love Purik Manik Cottage's two-storied Balinese Houses, green walls and lush tropical gardens. There's a swimming pool at the back but it looks old. The beds are not comfortable and the bathrooms are gloomy. My flush's broken. The good thing is it's cheap, has room air conditioning and the location is great (nearby Monkey Forest, Ubud Market, shops).

Anyone interested to stay here just for a night if there's no other choices can go to their website to check out more info. I did my booking via www.booking.com and paid only USD30 for a night's stay. I check in at night and the staffs knew I was coming! (great job). I heard stories where people didn't know where to check in at night or if they manage to find the place at night, the hotel lost their booking. Well stories from the Internet. The cottage has van drivers who was nice enough to drop us off at our next hotel, the Royal Kamuela Villas, Monkey Forest Road. The Villa is conveniently located next to Monkey Forest (popular tourist sight seeing spot) and 5 mins from Ubud central market. It's walking distance to all restaurants, shops and bars.

It was too early to check in so we left our luggages and head off for some Ubud sightseeing. It's Day 2 and on our itinerary? Ubud Market, Ubud Palace, Monkey Forest, Temples and Cultural sight seeing by ourselves. Also must eat on this day - Ibu Oka (babi guling for brunch), Warung Nuris (late lunch), Bebek Benggil (dirty duck dinner) and Cafe Wayan (cakes for supper).

While walking around Ubud, we notice many colorful packets of what seems to be flowers, rice, misc things on a banana leaf basket. Obviously handmade. Culture shock here! we see them on the streets, on houses, shops, vehicles almost everywhere. It's called "Canang Sari", Canang means small coconut leaf basket and Sari means Essence. In Bali, it's a daily routine to have these offerings for peace and wealth. We were careful not to step on the offerings but it seems some has been damaged by tourists or dogs. There's quite a number of dogs in Ubud (they come out at night to bark at people).
We didn't buy anything from Ubud Market, saving ourselves for Sukawati Market just outskirts of Ubud instead (Day 4). It was also going to rain (again Nov is not the season to visit). Our tummies were rambling already so next on our to see was Ibu Oka for famous babi guling (nearby walking distance). The Ubud Palace is opposite Ibu Oka and there's a public hall just right before Ibu Oka where Balinese people gather around to dance and train.

Our first taste of babi guling. It's wet and sloppy because of the sauces. We ordered the Rp50k set which comes with rice, vegetable soup and complete meat (like a meat sampler). My boyfriend wanted to try Bali Coffee Rp15k but had no comments on it. I don't quite like it but its an experience. Do try the "Kulit" dish Rp40k (roasted pork skin), it's crunchy like roast duck skin but harder. Lots of people eat here including locals as well. However it's a road side restaurant, cleanliness is subjective. U have been warn.

It's afternoon and we are still walking around Ubud. There's quite a number of things to see just by walking around (don't need tour). True it was only for a small group, which serves its purpose and attention was fully given to each one of us there. I met Aliez there, she brought her cute son along. I guess it's never too late to start learning about skincare early right? prevention is after all the key to beautiful healthy skin. My pal Esther was my date (hehe!). We sat together and learn about protecting our skin with the range Melissa Chen introduce.
One of the interesting part about learning about our skin is when we were given the "true lies" mirror (okie a name I came up with!). A mirror that shows you, your true face in big screen. Horrifying? nah... see what went on below:

My personal favorites from the skincare session was the Comfort Eye and Lip Makeup Remover. It's a ultra gentle make up remover which instantly dissolves all eye and lip makeup and skin debris without causing irritation to the eyes. Its moisturizing as well. There's many more brownie points about this product but the best part would probably be that it prevents the darkening of the eye contour! (first time I hear a eye and lip makeup remover has this?!).

As usual when I arrived at Cres, the friendly staffs greeted me with a smile. I was quickly ushered to the locker room where I locked up my personal belongings using the key bracelet given to me. I was asked if I needed to freshen up myself before my treatment start to which I promptly said yes! I don't want to stop my treatment midway because of toilet breaks you see.

first body massage using essential oil
My treatment room is cosy with everything lined up ready for me. I changed into my disposable panties and my masseuse came in. My treatment started with a body massage to which I request for a just back massage, as my back was all tensed up. Vitamin rich aromatic botanical essential oil was used to massage my back. It was pure bliss. I dozed off after a few minutes.

I awoke to find my masseuse all ready to scrub my body using fruits and flower enriched natural marine sea salt. The aromatic scent of fruit extracts and flowers provided me with the aromatherapy benefits I needed to de-stress and open up my senses. The scrub was also good for me explained my masseuse as it's full of vitamins and nutrients to nourish my skin making it smooth and baby soft. A luxurious fruitti body masque was applied all over me. To fully benefit from it, I was wrapped like a cocoon with heated blanket. I dozed off again with the sweet smelling scent of fruits and flower in the air.
lastly a fruitti bubble bath
I believe during this time, my masseuse secretly went off to prepare my fruitti bubble bath! It was the finale I was waiting for. I remember my friends told me that they don't have bath tub and if they got a chance to soak in one, it would be really awesome. I have a bath tub at home but Cres's spa tub area wins hands down with the lighting and heighten wooden tub floor. At the side of the bathtub, there's a tray of biscuits and hot drink. What could be more.... heavenly than a bubble bath with hot drink and biscuits waiting for me?

I spent a good 20mins soaking in the warm fruitti bubble bath. My skin was all glowing (dead skin cells removed yippee) and smooth to bits. I notice there's a Raspberry hand and body lotion placed on top of a towel prepared by my masseuse. Smells darn nice I must say! quickly rubbing it all over me and I wish I could bring it back as well.
