As promised in my earlier post, here's a healthy home-made recipe for pizza lovers! Recently, making pizzas right at home has been the choice activity for a stay-in Saturday afternoon. My friend and I decided to adapt the pizza dough recipe from Jamie Oliver's 30 Minute Meals. Making your own pizza is probably the closest you'll get to eating healthy, since you get to choose what goes on top! Plus, it'll take up only thirty minutes of your time, so you can spend the rest of the afternoon lazing away in front of the TV. Here's the recipe that's been adapted from Jamie Oliver's website. Ingredients: -1kg strong white bread flour -200g finely ground semolina flour -1 level tablespoon fine sea salt -2 x 7g sachets of dried yeast -1 tablespoon golden caster sugar -4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil -650ml lukewarm water Place the ball of dough in a large bowl and cover with a damp cloth. of it. It will soon double in size. Knead the dough out thin, and place it in a large pan. Spread tomato puree all over. Top it with mozarella cheese, proscuitto ham before popping it into the oven for 20-30 minutes. These days, we're spoilt for choices in terms of everything we put into our mouths, so it's good that we start learning how to make wise choices. As you can see, eating healthy isn't that difficult--a trip to the supermarket will take you at most 20 minutes, and baking time another 20 minutes, so you can feast on it in less than an hour. The best part about creating your own dishes is that you know for sure what's going in, and there aren't any sort of preservatives etc which does no good for your diet. If eating out is a must, be conscious about choices, and read the food labels and ingredients that go into a particular food item. In this month's issue, I explored energy drinks in particular, and broke down its nutritional information so you know exactly how much sugar goes into it, and know how beneficial it REALLY is for you. |
